Postgraduate Funding OpportunitiesThe School of Engineering and Digital Arts offers a number of funding schemes, designed to assist worthy students in undertaking postgraduate study. As well as the various schemes listed here, the University also has a wide range of internal and external funding opportunities, many of which are available to students in the School. This page outlines some of the opportunites for scholarships, bursaries, etc that are available to postgraduate students within the School. PhD Studentship OpportunitiesApplications are invited for PhD studentships. Generally, studentships cover tuition fees at the home/EU rate plus a maintenance grant, which is equivalent to that offered by the Research Councils. A number of these studentships are associated with EPSRC Research Projects. Other studentships are directly funded via Kent University Studentship routes, DTA awards and/or EU funding, of which some already have preallocated projects. A further selection of projects is available. Alternatively, interested students are invited to suggest an appropriate self-selected PhD topic area and to contact the School for further discussion. Applicants should apply online, stating which project route(s) they wish to be considered for. Closing dates are given on the individual pages. Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) StudentshipsHome and EU candidates applying for a Master’s degree in Computer Animation or Digital Visual Effects can apply for AHRC awards for postgraduate study in the arts and humanities, which are available for students undertaking: “A Master's or Postgraduate Diploma course intended to prepare them for professional practice.” For information on this year's AHRC competition and application instructions, please see: http://www.kent.ac.uk/recruitment/PG_Funding/AHRC.html Digital Media BursariesA number of bursaries are available for students taking either the Computer Animation or Digital Visual Effects MSc, payable in the form of a modest contribution towards tuition fees. Applicants wishing to apply for a bursary should be holding an offer (conditional or unconditional) of a place on the course, and should submit a letter explaining the precise grounds on which financial assistance is requested. Ratiu Foundation StudentshipThis award may be made available to a student from Romania, applying to study for a taught MSc in Information Security and Biometrics. Candidates interested in applying for this studentship should contact the The University's Scholarships Unit. Overseas Non-EU ScholarshipFor well-qualified candidates wishing to study for a research degree, the University offers a number of generous studentships. Candidates interested in applying for a studentship should contact the Director of Graduate Studies.
