MEng/BEng(Hons) Computer Systems Engineering

The range of uses for computers is increasing all the time – from simple word processors and games machines to aircraft flight control systems, super computers and global telecommunications systems.

The Computer Systems Engineering programme allows you to develop the skills and expertise needed to design computer systems. This includes up-to-date detailed knowledge of computer hardware and software and background knowledge of electronics, communications systems and control theory.

This programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Offer Levels

MEng

Typical offer:
  • A/AS level 320 points (21 units) including BB at GCE A level or VCE A level. Applicants must have studied Mathematics and a Science subject post-GCSE obtaining at least a grade B at AS in one subject and at least a grade B at A2 in the other.
  • BTEC National Diploma at DDM level including a Merit in the Further Mathematics for Technicians module.
  • IB 33 Points with a score of 6 in three HL subjects including Mathematics and a Science.
  • EB 78% overall including Maths and Physics.
  • Additionally, students should have GCSE English Language to at least grade C.

BEng

Typical offer:
  • A/AS level 280-300 points (21 units) including CC at GCE A level or VCE A level. Applicants must have studied Mathematics and a Science subject post-GCSE obtaining at least a grade C at AS in one subject and at least a grade C at A2 in the other.
  • BTEC National Diploma at DMM level including a Merit in the Further Mathematics for Technicians module.
  • IB 33 Points with a score of 6 in three HL subjects including Mathematics and a Science.
  • EB 75% overall including Maths and Physics.
  • Additionally, students should have GCSE English Language to at least grade C.

Direct admission to Stage 2 of the programme is also available to suitably qualified students.
