Engineering Education Scheme
The Engineering Education Scheme (EES) is one of many initiatives developed by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), the largest provider of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) enrichment activities for UK youth. The EDT develops partnerships, builds links between education and industry and help organisations reach talent and connect with young engineers and scientists across the UK.
The scheme is sponsored by the industrial organisations taking part. These organisations cover a broad spectrum, including energy companies, automotive manufacturers, water supply and treatment, and transport, as well as the aeronautical and pharmaceutical industries.
The residential workshop is generally regarded as the highlight of the project by the students. During this three-day experience, participants make use of the School of Engineering and Digital Arts' laboratories, mechanical workshop, computing resources, and PCB design and fabrication facilities. The workshop enables students to engineer solutions to real industrial problems.
The Engineering Education Scheme for the South East region was launched at the School of Engineering and Digital Arts.
