Head of EDA presents prizes at 'The Battle of the Bots'
Professor Sarah Spurgeon, Head of the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, was delighted to be asked to present the prizes at the ‘Battle of the Bots’ Challenge sponsored by Southern Water on Saturday, 20th October at the Chatham Historic Dockyard.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Battle of the Bots. It was great to see students from a variety of Medway and Kent Schools competing with such evident enjoyment in this important activity seeking to promote the excitement of STEM. Engineering skills are important to both the economy and society and I am very committed to ensuring the next generation of engineers and scientists know what a satisfying and rewarding career it provides.”
In the Challenge, Year 7-9 students competed in teams of four with robots they had built previously at school to find the fastest and the most dextrous. The overall winning team was the Chatham Grammar School for Boys who received their prizes from Sarah Spurgeon and Rehman Chishti, MP for Gillingham and Rainham.
