As Communications and Engagement Manager for the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (one of the University's most entrepreneurial and innovative Schools), I am responsible for managing and implementing a PR, marketing and communications strategy for the School, ensuring coherent and effective communications to key stakeholders.
I promote the School's teaching, research, industry and enterprise capabilities and promote national, regional and institutional initiatives. I also develop and support the delivery of a distinctive student experience and encourage student engagement initiatives and events including public lectures, graduate receptions and industrial forums.
I nurture new business development and enterprise opportunities, as well as support all forms of industrial collaboration including strengthening links with our international alumni community. I promote outreach and widening participation activities.
I head up the External Services Team in EDA which also includes the recruitment and admissions process for all students, right through to the arrangements for Welcome Week each year, and I line manage the School’s Recruitment Assistant (Tara Sutton) and Employability Officer (Famy Rashid).
I possess over 20 years’ experience of working as a higher education professional, in administration and management, having previously been employed at City University Business School in London. I know all about University life and fondly recall my time here at the University of Kent when I studied English and American Literature back in the 1980’s!
I am committed to upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusivity for all, and as such, I am the EDI Rep for the School. I am an active member of the Women's Network, the EDI Network, and the Disability Staff Network. I am trained Harassment Contact for the University.
I participate in the following forums and SIGs: Recruitment & Marketing Forum, Employability Forum, Alumni Development Forum, Faculty of Sciences Student Engagement and Feedback SIG, and the Faculty of Sciences Business Development Forum.
